Common types of vacuum formed packaging

Blister packaging “is a general term used to describe packaging that uses thermoforming processes. Thermoforming involves heating plastic sheets to a certain temperature to make them easy to shape and mold into any desired shape. The term ‘vacuum forming’ refers to a thermoformed plastic bag that covers a product.

Blister packaging refers to a type of packaging with pre made plastic “pockets” or “shells” (in which the product is firmly secured), typically heat sealed onto adhesive coated cardboard or foil backing (such as single dose pills or tablets).
There are many types and variations of vacuum formed packaging used in the retail market.

Face Seal Blister only seals the raised areas of the product and heat seals it onto a piece of cardboard. The blister seal is only in the position of the product, and the rest of the cards remain uncovered.
Face sealed vacuum forming is one of the cheapest transparent packaging options. Surface sealed vacuum forming is commonly used for packaging small, lightweight products.
The face sealed blister is widely used. This blister card packaging method has been successfully used in some hand tools, perfume, games and toys.
